Spinning Wool
We do the work for you--our sheep are covered all year around to protect their fleeces from weather and foreign matter. Shearing is done once a year, approximately one month before lambing. It is hard work. I was lucky to have Devon Strong (530-459-3707) since most shear commercial sheep and so not know how to "throw" a fleece, and carefully shear without making "second cuts". The fleeces are then skirted, rolled, and bagged. In the next couple of weeks each fleece is unrolled, reskirted, hand picked of foreign matter, graded, and are finally ready for your spinning pleasure.
